Maternity services for Windmill Practice patients are provided by the team of midwives attached to the practice.
If you become pregnant, we recommend you see one of the GPs to check your general medical health and past medical history and then you will be given a ‘booking appointment’ at which the midwife will ask you a few questions and carry out some general health checks.
You will be seen regularly by midwives throughout your pregnancy either at the practice or at the local hospital, or both. The midwives can also be seen at the local Surestart Children’s Centre in Sneinton.
The midwives will co-ordinate the delivery of your baby at home or at the hospital and after the birth will visit you at home for the first few weeks. At 8 weeks after the birth you will be invited to come to see the GP at the practice’s Child Health clinic for a postnatal check-up and baby’s 8 week health check and first immunisations.
