Upcoming changes to appointment booking
We’d like to let you know about some upcoming changes to how you can book appointments at our practice.
From 1 October 2025, all GP practices are required by the Government to make routine appointments available to book online during core hours. We know this is a big change — both for our patients and for our teams — and we want to introduce it carefully to make sure it works well for everyone.
To help us do this safely and smoothly, we’ll be moving to a total triage system in mid-December. This new system will make it easier for patients to get the right care, at the right time, from the right person, while helping our reception and clinical teams to manage appointments more efficiently.
Although we had hoped to have everything ready by October, a few technical issues and recent staff changes have caused some delays. We’re now focusing on getting the system fully up and running in a way that’s reliable and sustainable for the long term.
Please be reassured that patients who don’t use the internet or prefer not to book online will not be disadvantaged. Our friendly reception team will always be available to help you book appointments, answer questions and make sure you get the care you need.
Both our Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Local Medical Committee (LMC) are aware of our plans and are fully supportive of the approach we’re taking.
We’ll also be holding a Patient Engagement Event on the 26th November to explain the new system in more detail and to hear your feedback.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make these improvements to help us serve you better.
